An experimental study is made of the signal induced in a coil wrapped around a type I or type II In-Sn superconductor in a small alternating magnetic field superimposed on a steady field. The dependence of signal amplitude on field is investigated by sweeping the field through the superconducting transition and recording the results by photographing oscilloscope images. The magnetization and resistance are measured in the same way as a function of field. It is concluded that the major features of the signal can be accounted for by hysteresis effects. (T.F.H.)
