Spray‐drying imparts unique powder handling features to a wide variety of dried products and is usually carried out in a heated airstream while feeding an aqueous suspension of some solid material. The present work, however, explores nonaqueous spray‐drying as a means of preparing fine powders of metal oxides. In this case an alcohol solvent was used in place of water and the slurry sprayed under an inert atmosphere. Using the nonaqueous technique, the product consists of distinct but loosely aggregated primary particles.
