The negative Plasma Desorption Mass Spectra of ten unprotected tri-deoxyribonucleoside diphosphates1 Hereafter termed tri-deoxyribonucleotides. have been observed and analysed in detail. They all exhibit molecular ions as well as a characteristic fragmentation pattern. The ten trinucleotides selected were chosen in order to understand, in terms of sequence, the main features of the experimental spectra. It is shown that the structure and the sequence of the oligomers can be rapidly and easily derived from their PD Mass Spectrum.
