α‐Oxygen doublets. I. Theory

Abstract

Abstract A group‐theoretical classification is made of the α‐O 2 states. It is found that the bimolecular absorption lines must be polarized. It is shown that the bimolecular absorption lines split into doublets by taking into account the collective nature of excited crystal states. The electron‐vibrational structure of bimolecular transition bands is studied.
