ABSTRACT APPROXIMATELY 11.4 percent of the energy re-quired to produce livestock is devoted to handling manure. This article presents information on the oper-ating characteristics of most types of manure handling equipment. Equations are developed which describe the power requirements for many of the pieces of equipment discussed. Estimates of energy requirements for given conditions for several pieces of manure handling equip-ment are presented.
