The apparatus described is based on the Faraday law of electromagnetic induction and is especially suited for toroidal samples of ferrimagnetic compounds. The measurements can be performed at frequencies from 1 to 100 kHz and temperatures from 80 to 900K. In addition to the initial permeability and the Curie temperature, this apparatus provides a qualitative determination of the chemical homogeneity of the samples.
