Characterisation of Bragg gratings in fibreswith the heat-scan technique

Abstract

Chirped Bragg gratings in fibres have been characterised and mapped by scanning a heating element along the fibre. The chirp of three gratings was found to be linear, and a standard deviation as small as 6.6 pm has been measured.
