A questionnaire concerning the number of symptoms experienced during one week was administered to 100 neurotic patients and 100 normal subjects, first in England and then in New Mexico. The rank order of frequency of symptoms was similar on both sides of the Atlantic, but neurotics and normals had different rank orders. Both groups reported a high prevalence of symptoms, with neurotics reporting a significantly greater number of almost all symptoms.
