The presence of asymptomatic fungal contamination of the conjunctiva and lid margin is dependent in part on age and environmental factors, the latter probably being the more important. The persistence of fungi on an individual's conjunctiva and lid margins is inconstant. Fungi endemic in the Individual's environment apparently contaminate these tissues transiently and by chance. The presence of asymptomatic fungal contamination of the conjunctiva and lid margin is not significantly affected by parenteral triple sulfa, topically applied tetracycline, and perhaps erythromycin.
