Preparation and Room Temperature Gas Sensing Study of Tungsten Oxide Nanowires/PEDOT/PSS Hybrid Materials

A novel WOx-EDA nanowires/PEDOT/PSS hybrid material was successfully synthesized by a convenient two-step method. The diameters and lengths of WOx nanowires were 50-200 nm and 10-30 m, respectively. SEM and TEM images proved the good interaction between PEDOT/PSS and WOx nanowires. Their gas sensing properties, studied at room temperature, exhibit a good sensitivity (∼6.76), a fast response (∼18 s) to 10 ppm NH3, and an excellent detection limit. The new material has a better sensitivity than that of WOx nanowires towards NH3, which might be attributed to a synergetic interaction between PEDOT/PSS and WOx nanowires.
