A comparison of the urographic quality in patients given sodium iothalamate (as Conray 420 and 325) and methylglucamine iothalamate (as Conray 280) has shown that improved examinations result from the use of sodium iothalamate. The difference is more striking in patients with a slightly raised blood urea. Side effects are similar between the three media except for a higher incidence of arm pain in patients given Conray 420.
