A series of platinum-containing chromophores having the molecular formula trans-Pt(P(n-C8H17)3)2(C⋮CC6H4R)2 are liquids at room temperature. Upon cooling they convert into glasses in the temperature range −60 to −100 °C. Their high chromophore density, ease of processing and glass-forming ability make them ideal for nonlinear optics investigations.
