Brillouin gain curve dependence on frequency spectrum of PSK-modulated signals

Abstract

The Brillouin gain curve in an optical fibre has been measured for various phase modulation formats as a function of the bit rate. Experimental results show that the gain can be obtained as the convolution of the intrinsic gain curve and the frequency spectrum of the modulated signal.
