The six-junction inverted metamorphic multi-junction (IMM6J) solar cell has been identified as a viable path towards air mass zero (AM0) conversion efficiencies in excess of 37% (1-sun, AM0, 28°C, 1353 mW/cm 2 ). The design of the IMM6J device architecture is presented in this paper. Initial experimental results of the IMM6J are presented, including an experimental best AM0 conversion efficiency of 33.7%.
