A process for casting magnets of the cobalt, copper, rare-earth type weighing as much as several pounds has been developed. The characteristics of the alloys are highly reproducible between castings. The uniformity of performance within a casting is excellent. The residual induction of a typical cerium alloy casting is 5600 G. The coercive force is 4800 Oe. The variation of induction with temperature in the region of a load line of 2, is 0.08%/°C from room temperature to 100°C.
