Theoretical calculations on transition probabilities between low-lying states of CII, using accurate ab initio electronic wave functions, have yielded radiative lifetimes for the V = 0 vibrational levels of the A 2A, B 2 -, and 2 + states of 388, 260, and 89 ns, respectively. These results are expected to be accurate within + 15 percent. Based on these theoretical results, an effort has been made to assess the validity of available experimental data.
