The Impact of the SARS Outbreak on an Urban Emergency Department in Taiwan

Abstract

The SARS catastrophe affected the ED visit volume, finances, various patient characteristics, and stress levels in the ED physicians and nurses. EDs must be fully prepared to face the challenges of the next outbreak of SARS or other infectious disease.
