Abstract

Amorphous-crystalline microstructures were produced by heat treatments of amorphous, rapidly solidified Ti 50 Ni 25 Cu 25 ribbons. The same features were observed in planar-flow-casted ribbons as previously in melt-spun material: spherical grains and two-step transformations during heating and cooling. The later is triggered by occurrence of subnanometric plate-like precipitates of a yet unknown phase. For comparison, first results of sputtered TiNiCu 24 thin films are also presented.
