Pt 6 Si 5 nanowires and Pt 6 Si 5 –Si nanowire heterojunctions (see Figure) have been synthesized by electrodeposition using polycrystalline Pt nanowires as templates. In the synthesis, the polycrystalline nature of the Pt nanowires played an important role. A dependence between the diameters of the products and the Pt nanowires was detected. These junctions would find applications in future nano‐electronics.
