Abstract

Abstract Ammonia-silica gel system was γ-irradiated at −196 °C. ESR spectrum observed from samples with low ammonia content showed a marked linewidth anomaly in the hf lines at −196 °C and changed with temperature reversibly. The free radical responsible for the spectrum was assigned to NH2 radical which undergoes a preferential rotation about an axis perpendicular to the radical plane at low temperatures and a substantially free rotation above −90 °C.
