Abstract

Abstract The Raman echo is the first of the eight‐wave mixing spectroscopic techniques to be experimentally demonstrated in molecular systems. Practical results achievable in such high‐order experiments are described. Signal levels, competing non‐linear effects, phase‐matching requirements and other experimental design considerations are discussed. Results needed to predict the success of experiments at different power levels, Raman cross‐sections and concentrations are presented.
