Abstract A modern rainout shelter designed to open and close with an improved electronic control sytsem and to withstand high winds is described. It was installed in conjunction with drainage lysimeters to quantitatively evaluate evapotranspiration, physiological indicators of drought stress, and irrigation scheduling.
