Abstract

Isotropic hyperfine interactions and g factors have been determined by a generalized least-squares treatment of measurements made for the spectra of 12CF3, 13CF3, and 14NF2O, 15NF2O in an SF6 matrix. Statistical analysis of the results shows that the slight increase in the 19F hyperfine interaction, observed upon increasing the mass of the central atom, is significant at the 95% confidence level for both CF3 and NF2O. The effect is attributed to a vibrational modulation of the isotropic 19F hyperfine interaction which is dependent upon central-atom mass. Relative signs of the 19F and central-nucleus couplings have also been established for both radicals.
