Abstract

Adenosine induces vasodilatation in the human hypertensive kidney and this effect is mediated by the adenosine receptor. Nitric oxide plays, at most, a minor part in the adenosine-induced vasodilatation. Furthermore, renin secretion is not affected by adenosine and caffeine.
