Measurement of total cross sections for the scattering of positrons by argon and xenon atoms

Abstract

Experimentally determined values for total scattering cross sections for ${e}^{+}\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{A}\mathrm{r}$ and ${e}^{+}\ensuremath{-}\mathrm{X}\mathrm{e}$ collisions in the 2-50 eV range are presented and compared with earlier sets of measurements, between which major discrepancies exist, and with recent theoretical calculations.
