The conjugation of self-assembled modified DNA nucleosides (deoxyguanosine lipophilic derivative) to GaN/AlN semiconductor quantum dots for biophotonic application is presented. A resonant energy transfer from GaN nanostructures is observed to enhance the photoluminescence emission from the self-assembled guanosine molecules, which was tailored to achieve a bandgap resonant to the quantum dot emission energy.
