The interatomic exchange integrals ${J}_{\mathrm{ij}},$ associated with effective interactions between local magnetic moments at sites i and j in bcc Fe, fcc Co, and fcc Ni are calculated using the real-space linear-muffin-tin method within the atomic sphere approximation (LMTO-ASA). Our results are in excellent agreement with those obtained by k-space LMTO-ASA calculations.
