The essentially negative attitude of the past—"What will kill?"—must be replaced with a positive position for the future, "What is safe?" Toxicology: The Basic Science of Poisonsis a publication sorely needed to supplement the few available textbooks of toxicology for the increasing number of individuals entering training programs in this field. The book has four comprehensive sections or units. The first describes the method and approach that identify the science of toxicology, including those principles, such as dose-response, necessary for a full understanding of toxicological mechanisms. Unit II, which focuses on the systemic site of action of toxins, provides answers to two
