Abstract We have a program for utilising the abundantly available (+)-3-carene (1)- for the synthesis of bioactive synthetic pyrethroidslJ2. Key intermediates in this conversion are (-)-car-4-ene- 3α-01 (2)- and/or its C3 epimer (-)-car-4-ene-3 β - 01 (3).
