Abstract

The potential use of Unmanned Aircraft (“UA”) in oil, gas and mineral Exploration and Production activities has led us to the conclusion that the Unmanned Aircraft with a 9 kg payload and a range of 1,800 km has much to offer. However, before Unmanned Aircraft will find widespread use in geophysical survey and pipeline monitoring activities, issues to do with reliability, flying in unsegregated air space, minimizing the consequences of a UA crash and reputational damage, need to be addressed.
