Solid-phase peptide synthesis was used to synthesize polymer-supported, peptide-based bis(phosphine sulfides). Chemistry was developed that allows for the conversion of the phosphine sulfides to phosphines while they remain attached to the support resin. The transformation of protected phosphine to phosphine to metal complex was followed by solid-state 31P NMR. The resin-supported rhodium complexes were used in the hydrogenation of olefins.
