Abstract

The atomic-beam magnetic resonance technique has been used to measure the nuclear spins of some nuclides having 4dn and 5dn electronic ground state configurations. A special evaporation method had to be used for production of the atomic beam for nuclides of these highly refractory elements. From the hyperfine structure separation measured in 99Mo, a nuclear magnetic moment of μI = ± 0.374(3) n.m. is deduced. The experimental data in the 4dn-region is discussed in terms of different nuclear models.
