The structure of Si(100)2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2-In was analyzed using tensor low-energy electron diffraction. The parallel dimer model agrees with the experimental results. The features of atomic arrangement are discussed in terms of the size and chemical nature of In atoms. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
