On the generation mechanism and the instability properties of anode double layers

Abstract

Experimental results which prove a connection between the generation mechanism of anode double layers (anode glows or spots) and the variation of the excitation cross section of the gas with the electron velocity and also between the ionization phenomena and the anode double layer instability appearance are presented.
