Abstract Optically pure pentapeptide, l-Tyr-d-Ala-Gly-l-Phe-l-Leu-ol (1) which is an analog of opioid hormone, enkephalin, was successfully synthesized by using β-lactam building blocks as chiral synthons of peptide units.
