It is shown how the magnetization and magnetostriction of Tb/sub 0.3/Dy/sub 0.7/Fe/sub 2/ can be calculated using a three-dimensional anisotropy model with fractional occupancies p/sub 1/,. . .p/sub 8/ along each of the easy <111> axes. This model assumes no interaction between the domains.
