Measurements have been made to determine $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray attenuation coefficients very accurately by using an extremely-narrow-collimated-beam transmission method which effectively excluded corrections due to small-angle and multiple scattering of photons. The measured mass attenuation coefficients with maximum errors less than 3% for 34 elements in the range from hydrogen to lead are given.
