Abstract

A latent polyneuropathy was detected in a patient with folate deficiency, who was later found to have intestinal disease. There were no other demonstrable vitamin deficiencies or abnormal laboratory values. The discrete clinical signs and the relatively pronounced electrophysiologic signs did not improve after therapy with the common vitamin B complex but improved after folic acid therapy. The results suggest that the polyneuropathy was due to the folate deficiency.
