Summary only given. In this presentation we argue that a business value chain model drives the identification and modeling of business services, and the business oriented/technology neutral modeling language IDEF0, is used for modeling web services. We expect the next generation of advanced (i.e. intelligent/semantics-based) Web services to be generated and driven directly by business models, rather than laboriously hand-crafted. In our approach, a systemic view of services offers a declarative specification of what are the capabilities that the service delivers. More about the methodological aspects of our approach can be found in: ldquoengineering service oriented systems: a model driven approachrdquo Bill Karakostas & Yannis Zorgios, IGI-Global, 2008, ISBN: 978-1-59904-968-7.
