Abstract

The theory of diffraction tomography is extended to the reconstruction of quasi-homogeneous random objects. It is shown that a low-pass filtered version of the degree of spatial correlation of the scattering potential of such an object can be determined from measurements of the cross-spectral density of the scattered field in two planes, one on each side of the scatterer.
