Analyzing power and differential cross sections for the inelastic scattering of protons to the collective states of $^{58,60}\mathrm{Ni}$ and $^{64}\mathrm{Zn}$ have been measured with 15-MeV polarized protons. The success in fitting the experimental data with a microscopic reaction analysis strikingly points out the usefulness of nuclear-structure calculations with a spin-dependent surface-delta interaction.
