Lecture Notes in Statistic s provides a format for the informal and quick publication of monographs , cas e studies , and workshop s of theoretica l or applied importance .Thus, in some instances , proofs may be merel y outlined and result s presente d which will later be publishe d in a different form.Publication of the Lecture Notes is intende d as a service to the internationa l statistica l community , in that a commercia l publisher , Springer-Verlag , can provide efficient distribution of document s that would otherwis e have a restricte d readership .Once published and copyrighted , they can be documente d and discusse d in the scientifi c literature .Lecture Notes are reprinte d photographicall y from the copy delivere d in camera-read y form by the autho r or editor.Springer-Verla g provides technica l instructions for the preparatio n of manuscripts.Volume s shoul d be no less than 100 page s and preferabl y no more than 400 pages .A subjec t index is expecte d for authore d but not edited volumes .
