Abstract

Fourteen occultation angular diameters have been obtained for 11 stars including the bright M giants Vir, BS 5301, and Rz Ari; the Mira-type star U Ori; and the C star Y Tau. For the spectroscopic triple P Cap the diameter of the evolved K-type primary has been determined, and also the projected separation of the primary and the B dwarf secondary. All observations were recorded in the infrared (1.63.5 ), many in the daytime. Intercomparison of the multiple occultation diameter determinations available for nine stars confirms the usefulness of the correlated formal error estimate produced by the differential corrector reduction technique, and shows that the occulta- tion method is the most accurate currently available for diameter measurements of late-type stars.
