Highlights► The impact of sport facilities on sport participation is analyzed. ► Data on individuals (micro level) and sport facilities (macro level) were collected. ► Data on both levels are geo-coded and multi-level analyses are performed. ► Swimming pools are a significant determinant for sport participation. ► The provision of sport fields is important to participation in sport clubs.
