Electron-Lattice Interactions and Lattice Instabilities of 1<i>T</i>-VSe₂, 1<i>T</i>-CrSe₂and 1<i>T</i>-TiS₂

Abstract

Lattice instabilities of 1 T -VSe 2 , CrSe 2 , and TiS 2 are studied on the basis of the band-type Jahn-Teller mechanism. The wave number and mode dependences of electron-lattice interaction and the generalized electronic susceptibility are calculated for each compound by using modified bands of 1 T -TiSe 2 . The results are discussed in connection with possible distortions.
