The immigration has become the issue of the 1990s and a hotbed for public policy debates in state and federal politics. In the midst of these heated political debates are the immigrants themselves. Clearly such controversies impact their everyday life and yet an often unasked question is how they experience and construct a sense of self in light of their place in public debates.
