Abstract

To provide a scientific basis for the design for disassembly (DFD), a quantitative evaluation of the disassemblability should be conducted independently of the actual disassembly tasks. In the paper we propose a new approach for the evaluation of disassemblability by introducing two parameters which describe the disassemblability quantitatively: (1) energy for disassembly, and (2) entropy for disassembly. To demonstrate the applicability of the disassemblability parameters, six personal computers were disassembled. The net disassembly time is correlated to the disassembly energy, while the difference between the total disassembly time and net disassembly time are explained by the disassembly entropies.
