This may be due to inflammatory changes in the lining of the airway that lead to narrowing of the lumen or to distortion of the airway so that the flow of air is impeded.If smoking is a cause of obstructive pulmonary disease, one would expect to find it in some degree among many who smoke but who do not have manifest disease, provided...Bibliography1.
