Differential thermal analysis of the constituents of cells were carried out in an effort to identify the chemical constituents which react exothermically to initiate and/or propagate a thermal runaway. was found to be the most reactive combination which reacted exothermically at ambient temperature, whereas, was found to be the least reactive combination, which did not react even at as high a temperature as 320°C.
