Magnetic susceptibility of Li x Zn 1- x V 2 O 4 was measured in a temperature range 80 to 300 K. It is believed that a metal-insulator transition occurs in this system. Nevertheless the susceptibility obeyed the Curie-Weiss law in the whole composition range. The effective Bohr magneton number p and the Weiss temperature θ were very large for ZnV 2 O 4 and p =5.4 per molecule and θ=990 K. They decreased rapidly with an increase in Li content toward the metal-insulator transition. In the region where the oxide is metallic, the change was gradual. The rapid decrease in the insulator region was attributed to the dielectric screening by mobile electrons.
